Early this month, Soul Mystique was invited to perform at the closing of The World Mining Forum in Kalgoorlie, the gold mining capital of Australia. This forum, being the largest event of it’s kind in the Southern Hemisphere, was attended by 1900 delegates from around the world, including world class speakers, industry leaders, & 40 news channels from around the globe.

Overwhelmed by such a large number of visitors, Kalgoorlie ran out of hotel rooms, and local residents were kind enough to open their homes up to accommodate remaining delegates. Fortunately, event producers, Corporate Theatre, known for their impeccable planning and organization, not only provided their usual production needs, but their accommodation - with a twist of Kalgoorlie’s red light district history!

Corporate Theatre hired out ‘The Red House’ for the week, a historical brothel on the famous Hay Street. Reputed to be the oldest standing brothel in Kalgoorlie, it has been operating since 1902.  The brothel/museum was transformed to a hotel for the production & entertainment crew, and it was a facinating experience for most of them! Gavin and Lydia were thrilled to add this to their collection of ‘interesting places visited’!
